As IBC returns to Amsterdam this September, Lawo will delight Radio attendees with more than a dozen new upgrades and feature enhancements to its comprehensive line of AES67-compliant networked mixing and routing solutions — as well as a brand-new audio I/O product designed to give greater operational and cost efficiencies to radio customers.
“It is a true pleasure to be part of a company that is always thinking about ways to give clients more operational flexibility and more value in its solutions,” says Johan Boqvist, Senior Product Manager, Radio. “I loved this quality as a customer when I worked at Swedish Radio; now I love being a part of the team that’s developing exciting new features and streamlined workflows for radio broadcasters!”
New features via software upgrades will be introduced for nearly every Lawo radio product, and a brand-new Radio and audio infrastructure product will also be unveiled to IBC attendees.
Introducing Radio Software v7.1 PL-01
Radio Software Version 7.1 adds many new features to Lawo’s already robust product portfolio.
For the new diamond broadcast mixing console, v7.1 software adds informatics and usability features such as Monitor section PPM meters and media-type icons, PPM meters in upper central displays, expanded source selection and access logic options, and a new “Fader Over Press” logic function which complements traditional fader-start logic with configurable logic commands that trigger when faders are moved towards the operator.
For users of the award-winning Power Core I/O & DSP node, network sync becomes even more robust with the additional option of BMCA – PTP grandmaster failover for redundant Power Core operations, software support for more I/O to expand Power Core’s already considerable signal capacity, and sophisticated new dynamics functions such as a self-keyed sidechain filter and refined, extended EQ “Q” values that allow operated even more control over audio processing.
New Power Core License Options
In addition to the 5 existing Power Core license packages (EDGE, Super Audio Node, Radio Console L, Radio Console XL, and Radio Console MAX), a new console license and two new functional add-on packages are now available:
- A new entry-level mixer package, the “Power Core Compact” license, is offered for efficient configuration of diamond or ruby or mixing desks of between 2 and16 faders. This license features an optimized RAVENNA/AES67 stream count and supports a maximum of 4 I/O Power Core expansion slots. The Power Core Compact license may also be used with Lawo VisTool to power virtual interface installations.
- A new add-on license package, “Aux Pan,” adds Pan functionality to the Aux Busses of diamond mixers and VisTool virtual interface applications via Ember+.
- The “Enhanced N-1” add-on license is tailored to large talk and commentary operations. It expands configurable N-1 busses by 32, and adds individual level and routing controls for each source and bus.
RƎLAY Virtual Radio Software v4.4 Upgrade
Version 4.4 of RƎLAY virtual radio software for Windows debuts at IBC. The RƎLAY family includes the VRX8 and VRX4 touchscreen-enabled Virtual Radio Mixers, VPB Virtual Patch Bay application for mixing and routing RAVENNA/AES67 and traditional audio sources, RƎLAY VSC Virtual Sound Card, and AoIP Stream Monitor, the world’s first inspection and monitoring tool for AES67 networks.
All RƎLAY applications include upgrades and feature enhancements to both ASIO and WDM audio drivers, upgrades to the Ember+ logic API, and the addition of “make-before-break” stream switching for RAVENNA/AES67 sources.
RƎLAY VPB v4.4 now boasts integration with Lawo’s HOME IP infrastructure management platform via NAT gateways. Its channel capacity now supports more than 64 AES67/RAVENNA audio channels and 256 ASIO channels, and support has been added for NDI® audio.
With v4.4, RƎLAY VRX4 and VRX8 virtual mixers now include MIDI MCU (Mackie HUI) protocol support, and their audio capacity expanded to support up to 64 AES67/RAVENNA audio channels and 256 ASIO channels, as well as NDI® audio.
