Edge One makes the I/O part of Pro AV and broadcast workflows highly flexible by providing combined connectivity and functionality for both video and audio, allowing users to do more with less.
As Lawo’s first stagebox to provide HDMI ports it offers:
- Up to 8x analog audio connectors (XLR) with Lawo-quality preamps
- Up to 8x SDI connectors (micro HD-BNC, bidirectional)
- Up to 4x HDMI ports (two outputs, two inputs/outputs)
- 2x MADI ports with sample rate conversion as standard

Do More with Less
In broadcast and Pro AV, mobility and nimbleness are key. One area where these industries already firmly overlap is stageboxes that provide audio or video connectivity for opera houses, theaters, houses of worship, sports and multipurpose venues, parliaments, corporate buildings, radio, cruise ships, OB trucks, remote productions, and broadcast.
Multi-format audio stageboxes supporting analog, digital, MADI and AoIP simultaneously have been around for a while. They tend to take up a lot of space and come with more connectors than most operators will ever need. Typically, day-to-day applications require a handful of inputs and perhaps even fewer outputs. Placed close to where they are needed, compact stageboxes help operators avoid complex cable runs on stage, in studios, conference rooms, editing suites, etc.
Compact connection boxes for table-top or under-table installation, finally, usually only accommodate a specific audio or video format. Using two or three of them on the same desk quickly becomes messy.
Something similar applies to video gateways. While users are free to specify the number of SDI inputs and outputs they actually need, even the smallest connectivity package may already be physical or functional overkill.
With Edge One, Lawo completes the convergence that was set in motion with its HOME Apps audio and video processing platform. The possibility to run audio and video side by side on the same server was received to great acclaim. This next bold step—broadcast-grade audio and video connectivity in a single, compact stagebox for any Pro AV and broadcast application—is a sensation.
As a HOME-native ST2110 unit that supports NMOS, Edge One is one of a kind: it provides analog, MADI and USB audio, video connectivity on HD-BNC and HDMI, a 32 x 16 audio mixer with audio DSP, video frame sync, JPEG XS encoding and decoding, and a lot more. It also includes power over Ethernet and the possibility to use it locally without IP if that doesn’t add anything.

Typical Use Cases
Travel light from studio to studio, and beyond. Imagine a TV show involving two or three presenters, a self-op TV news show with one or two anchors, or the coverage of political developments at the parliamentary precinct.
Edge One offers all required connectivity and control right out of the box: audio in and out, SDI in, HDMI or SDI out, MADI (with sample rate conversion) towards a PA console, and streaming IP essences to the network.

The magic is back and more magical than ever! Need local audio shuffling in a compact OB van—and nothing else? Meet Edge One. It receives SDI signals, allows operators to de-embed the audio channels, shuffle them, re-embed the result and send the combined SDI output signal to the van’s satellite uplink. MADI in/out with sample rate conversion is also on board. De-embedded audio signals can be transmitted to your IP network (if available) using natively supported ST2110-30.

The one-stop commentary box! Edge One is a contribution powerhouse for in-venue commentary. Accommodating up to three commentators, each with their own microphone input and headphone output, it can easily be controlled locally via a tablet or a configurable button panel. Signal transport between Edge One and the OB truck or broadcast hub is handled via SMPTE ST2110.
