SMPTE ST2110 Education
Get Your Hands Dirty and Become an IP Pro!
SMPTE’s intensive training program has been designed to accelerate both organizational migrations to live IP production and individual career advancement by delivering an executive‑level roadmap for moving from SDI to an ST2110‑native workflow, practical guidance on hurdles such as synchronization, redundancy, PTP timing, network design, and change management, and a comparison of phased, hybrid, and green‑field deployment models.
Click here for details about the one-day practical session that allows students to apply the skills they learned at the SMPTE ST2110 Boot Camp and the Understanding SMPTE ST2110 virtual course to real-world environments and gain experience working with ST2110.
Practical Lab Hosted by Lawo
The Practical Lab add-on for the Intensive ST2110 Boot Camp is a hands-on sandbox experience that allows participants to design, sync, and troubleshoot live-production workflows using a simulated, virtual ST2110 IP networking set-up. Hosted at Lawo’s HQ in Rastatt, Germany, this is the best way to immediately apply what is learned in the Boot Camp, and to gain additional experience that you can apply in real-world scenarios. Lawo is a proud partner of this SMPTE Boot Camp initiative. Alongside other partners, we support it with:
- the A__mic8 (8 in/4 out) audio stagebox,
- the .edge hyper-density SDI/IP gateway and edge processing platform,
- Lawo’s HOME management platform for IP-based media infrastructures,
- Lawo’s HOME Apps for video and audio processing on demand.
Learn the ropes of broadcast and AV IP with current solutions from Lawo and other manufacturers. This is your sandbox of choice where you can try out everything without disrupting anything!

SMPTE ST2110 Standard Overview
This course provides a purely standard-focused, theoretical overview of SMPTE ST2110. It is intended for engineers and technologists with a foundational understanding of IP networking who want to gain a deeper understanding of ST2110. The content focuses exclusively on the structure, intent, and behavior as defined by the standard itself. It does not cover vendor implementations or operational workflows.
