San Francisco Opera
Pristine Sound and Flexible Modularity
Top-notch performances deserve superior audio quality. Yet… “What do you need to do sound for at San Francisco Opera?” is a question Douglas Mitchel, its Master Audio/Video Engineer, has to answer quite regularly.
In a classical setting, everything is supposed to be acoustic. And while Douglas and his team often focus on backstage support, other opera houses already use headset microphones and immersive sound reinforcement for high-stakes productions.
Like its peers in other cities around the world, San Francisco Opera occasionally needs to deliver live broadcasts and live streaming of their performances.
This requires the ability to share signals among multiple desks and sound engineers. For this, an mc²-based mixing system with its pristine sound, a compact crystal console, and RAVENNA are the tools of choice.
“Working with Lawo has always been a pleasure — in all respects.”
